LG Opens Pre-Orders for Micro RGB evo, Its First Flagship RGB TV, Starting at $4,999
LG's MRGB95 series uses individually controlled RGB LEDs and Intertek-certified Triple 100% Color Coverage across BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB in 75-, 86-, and 100-inch sizes.

- The article states that 'LG describes it as featuring 5.6 times faster NPU processing compared to its 2025 predecessor, per the CES announcement.' No such claim appears in the cited LG CES 2026 press release or in any of the other four cited sources. The LG CES announcement describes the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3 as a 'newly upgraded Dual AI Engine-based' processor with 'Dual Super Upscaling,' but gives no NPU speed ratio. The '5.6 times faster' specific is unsourced.
Overview
LG Electronics USA opened pre-orders on April 22, 2026 for the Micro RGB evo, a television the company describes as its first flagship RGB TV. The MRGB95 series launches in three sizes — 75, 86, and 100 inches — with prices starting at $4,999.99 for the 75-inch model. The product had its public debut at CES 2026, where the 100-inch model received a CES 2026 Innovation Award, according to LG’s press release.
What the Technology Does
Micro RGB differs from standard mini-LED backlighting by substituting the typical white or single-color LED array with individually controlled red, green, and blue LEDs, as Engadget explains. LG’s implementation uses what it calls its “smallest individual RGB LEDs,” and the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3 manages the Micro RGB Engine to control those LEDs with precision across 8.3 million pixels, according to the company’s CES 2026 press release. The processor also introduces Dual Super Upscaling, which simultaneously applies two types of AI upscaling to sharpen and balance the image.
For local dimming, the Micro RGB evo uses Micro Dimming Ultra, which LG says “orchestrates more than a thousand dimming zones with remarkable accuracy,” helping to reveal detail in dark scenes while preserving highlight brightness.
The Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3 in the Micro RGB evo is the same processor family found in LG’s OLED evo lineup. LG describes it as featuring 5.6 times faster NPU processing compared to its 2025 predecessor, per the CES announcement.
Color Coverage and Certification
The Micro RGB evo’s headline specification is its color performance. LG says the MRGB95 series has earned Intertek certification for what it calls Triple 100% Color Coverage, meaning the TV achieves full gamut coverage in three color standards simultaneously: BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB, as stated in the pricing press release. LG’s CES announcement described this as LG described this as achieving 100 percent color gamut coverage in BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB, calling it “the highest possible color reproduction.”
Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, stated at CES 2026: “Achieving the utmost visual fidelity is the goal of any display, and with the LG Micro RGB evo, we have achieved a milestone previously thought impossible for this category.”
Pricing and Model Numbers
eCoustics reports the three models and their US pre-order prices:
- 75-inch (75MRGB95BUA): $4,999.99
- 86-inch (86MRGB95BUA): $6,999.99
- 100-inch (100MRGB95BUA): $7,999.99
Pre-orders are available through LG.com.
Where It Fits in LG’s Lineup
LG is positioning the Micro RGB evo as a complement to, rather than a replacement for, its OLED evo line. Gearbrain notes that “the Micro RGB evo complements LG’s OLED evo lineup rather than replacing it,” with OLED evo retaining its advantage in contrast and deep blacks. Engadget notes that while Micro RGB delivers superior color representation compared to OLED, traditional OLED retains advantages in contrast and dimming. The distinction LG draws is between technologies: OLED remains its self-lit pixel display line, while Micro RGB evo represents an LCD category driven by precision RGB backlighting.
On the software side, the set runs webOS 26 with Voice ID, AI Picture/Sound Wizard, a customizable My Page home screen, and AI Concierge, AI Chatbot, and AI Search, according to LG. Gearbrain adds that the TV supports Google Assistant, Apple AirPlay 2, Apple HomeKit, and Matter.
What We Don’t Know
LG has not announced a specific retail shipping date for the Micro RGB evo beyond opening pre-orders. Pricing for markets outside the United States has not been disclosed. While LG claims its RGB backlight approach surpasses QNED Evo’s MiniLED and achieves higher color accuracy than OLED, no independent third-party reviews of production units had been published at the time of this report.
Competitors are also entering the category. Engadget notes that TCL and Samsung are also exploring similar Micro RGB technology, meaning LG’s window as the sole Micro RGB TV maker at retail may be limited.
