Overview

Hades II, the roguelite action sequel from Supergiant Games, launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on April 14, 2026. The console release was announced during the Xbox Partner Preview showcase on March 26 and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, according to Xbox Wire. The expansion ends a roughly seven-month console exclusivity window on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, where the game debuted alongside its PC version in September 2025.

What We Know

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox editions will ship as what Xbox Wire describes as “the most complete version of the game yet,” incorporating all post-launch patches released on PC and Switch along with additional quality-of-life improvements and bonus content arriving in a day-one update across all platforms.

The Xbox version supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing cross-progression between Xbox Series X/S and the Windows PC version distributed through the Microsoft Store, and is also playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming, as detailed by Engadget. The game is priced at $29.99 on Xbox, according to Xbox Wire, and is included with Xbox Game Pass subscriptions at launch.

Hades II puts players in control of Melinoë, the long-lost sister of the original game’s protagonist Zagreus. Melinoë swaps Zagreus’s short dashes for extended dashes and a sprint ability, and favors area-of-effect casting over ranged projectiles, according to Engadget. The sequel introduces a Magick resource bar governing powered-up “Omega moves,” an entirely new set of “Nocturnal Arms” weapons with multiple aspects each, and a dual-path structure where players choose between descending to confront Chronos, the Titan of Time, or ascending Mount Olympus, each route offering separate areas and bosses, as described on Xbox Wire.

New systems also include unlockable Animal Familiars that follow the player through runs, providing buffs and combat support, and the Crossroads hub area for customization and relationship-building with other characters, according to Xbox Wire.

Notably, the console expansion skips PS4 and Xbox One entirely despite Hades II running on the original Nintendo Switch hardware, a decision Kotaku highlighted as unexplained by Supergiant Games.

As previously reported, Hades II is part of a busy April for console releases that also includes Starfield’s PlayStation 5 debut and Capcom’s Pragmata.

What We Don’t Know

Supergiant Games has not disclosed total sales figures for Hades II across its existing PC and Nintendo Switch platforms since the September 2025 launch. PlayStation 5 pricing has not been separately confirmed, though it is expected to match the $29.99 Xbox price point. Whether the PS5 version will include platform-specific features such as DualSense haptic feedback or adaptive trigger support has not been announced. Supergiant has also not explained why the game skips last-generation consoles despite running on less powerful Nintendo Switch hardware.
