Motorola has launched the Edge 70 Pro+ in India, where it is available for INR 47,999, roughly $501, in a single configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, according to Notebookcheck. The phone pairs a periscope telephoto camera with a high-capacity silicon-carbon battery and a mid-range MediaTek processor, positioning it against a crowded field of similarly priced Android handsets.

The device is closely related to a handset Motorola already sells globally. Ahead of the launch, Digital Trends wrote that “the Edge 70 Pro+ could simply be a rebranded version of the international Edge 70 Pro for India.” That lineage means most of its hardware mirrors a phone that has already shipped under a different name in other markets.

The Edge 70 Pro+ carries a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,772 x 1,272 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 5,200 nits of peak brightness, according to Notebookcheck. The 5,200-nit figure is a peak-brightness rating, the level the panel can reach in small highlights rather than across the whole screen. Processing comes from a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The body carries IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, and the phone runs Android 16. It ships in three Pantone colorways: Stormy Sea, Zinfandel, and Chicory Coffee.

Cameras

The rear array consists of a 50MP Sony LYT-710 primary camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens, with a 50MP autofocus sensor on the front for selfies, according to Notebookcheck. All four sensors share the same 50-megapixel resolution, an unusual choice in a price band where ultra-wide and selfie cameras are often lower-resolution afterthoughts.

The standout is the telephoto. Digital Trends describes a “50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera, which supports 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm portrait modes,” with up to 50x AI-powered zoom. Periscope lenses fold the optical path sideways inside the chassis to fit a longer focal length into a thin phone, a feature that has historically been reserved for flagship devices. The same outlet notes the main camera uses a Sony Lytia 710 sensor with optical image stabilization.

Battery

The phone packs a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 90W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging, according to Notebookcheck. Silicon-carbon chemistry allows manufacturers to pack more capacity into the same physical volume than conventional lithium-ion cells, and it has become a common way for 2026 handsets to push past the 6,000mAh mark without adding bulk.
