Beneath that sits a titanium plate that Samsung says eliminates air gaps between the display module and its adhesive “through advanced hole processing technology,” providing steadier support when the device is unfolded while staying flexible enough for repeated folding.

Samsung also says the redesigned structure pairs a higher-resolution architecture with new organic materials to deliver “ultra-vivid display resolution while reducing power consumption,” which it describes as a “dramatic boost in overall power efficiency.”

The announcement includes quotes from two Samsung executives. “Samsung’s strength in the foldable category comes from connecting user needs with our technologies that deliver tangible benefits in everyday life,” said Sunghoon Moon, EVP and Senior Executive, Mobile R&D Office - H/W, Samsung Electronics. “For the next generation of Galaxy foldables, Samsung is building on years of expertise to bring display innovations into devices that enhance user experiences, anchored by exceptional viewing experiences.” Kyung-Jin Yoo, EVP and Head of Mobile Display Product Development Team at Samsung Display, added: “By introducing sophisticated micro-patterned holes to the folding section of the titanium plate, we have successfully secured flexibility with robust durability. Samsung’s own release stops short of naming a specific device, referring only to “the next generation of Galaxy foldable devices” throughout. 9to5Google reported that Samsung’s phrase “next-generation Galaxy foldable devices,” as used in the announcement, “refer to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra,” and independently confirmed the same core specifications Samsung published, describing the titanium-alloy film as “offering 20 times greater mechanical stiffness than plastic films” and the titanium plate as “eliminating air gaps between the module and adhesive for more stable support when unfolded.” GSMArena also verified the same stiffness and thickness figures, reporting the film “allegedly measures only one-third the thickness of a human hair” and is “reportedly 20x stiffer than the polymer film used in some older designs.”

Samsung has not disclosed a fold-cycle durability rating for the new structure. 9to5Google noted that “the announcement didn’t come with any claim to boost the fold cycle rating of the devices,” pointing out that the prior-generation Galaxy Z Fold 7 used plastic components in the equivalent position. Samsung also has not confirmed device names, pricing, or a full specifications list for the foldables that will carry Flex Titanium; those details, per Samsung’s own release, are reserved for the July 22 Unpacked event.
